Three children have been injured after being struck by a vehicle yesterday afternoon in New Brunswick.  The car was driven by New Brunswick Director Robert Rawls.

The accident happened around 3:30 p.m. as two 14 year old girls and a 6 year old boy were crossing Livingston Avenue on their way home from school.

One of the girls has been identified as 14 year old Josalyn Pelaez.  All the victims were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.

Rawls was on duty at the time and was driving a city vehicle.  He remained on the scene and has not been charged.

An investigation is continuing.  It's unclear why Rawls couldn't stop before hitting the children.

Residents claim it's a dangerous area for pedestrians.
