New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is standing behind his veto of legislation that would have restricted ammunition magazines to 10 rounds.

Christie said he feels "extraordinary sympathy" for families who have lost a loved one to gun violence, but he didn't believe this legislation would stop the problem.

"I understand their argument, I've heard their argument, I don't agree with their argument," Christie said.  "We have a fundamental disagreement about the effectiveness of what they're advocating for."

The governor also defended his decison not to meet last week with Newtown families, who traveled to Trenton to argue in favor of the legislation.

Christie said it would have been "hypocritical" for him to listen to their arguments, when he already vetoed the measure.
