Democratic mayoral candidate Christine Quinn said Wednesday night that if she becomes mayor, "we will be improving the NYC condom," according to the Huffington Post. There reportedly have been a number of complaints about the condoms that are distributed by the Department of Mental Health and Hygiene and Quinn acknowledged the issue while at Black Pride Heritage Awards in Harlem.

The condoms are produced by Lifestyles and are reportedly the same kind that is sold in stores. However, there have been complaints that the condoms are too small and there is a fear that they would rip.

"They were dissatisfied with the quality of the NYC condom. So I want to tell you, we will be improving the NYC condom," Quinn said on Thursday (via Huffington Post). According to the Department of Mental Health and Hygiene, the city distributed over 35 million male condoms in 2012.
