Police are searching for a group of thugs who assaulted two gay men in Chelsea just after midnight Wednesday morning. The New York Daily News reports that the two victims had just left the Chelsea Cinemas on W. 23rd Street when two men approached them around the corner.

The 27-year-old and 53-year-old couple were holding hands when leaving the movie theater and reportedly were asked by the suspects, "What are you looking at, f----t?” An argument quickly escalated when four other attackers reportedly joined in and overpowered the couple. The victims were taken to Bellevue Hospital after suffering bruises and a gash that required stiches.

This incident comes just a couple months after a rash of anti-gay attacks struck Manhattan.
