Long Island Rail Road President Helena Williams was unexpectedly let go from her position yesterday afternoon. MTA chairman Thomas F. Prendergast broke the bad news to Williams, who was the first female to ever hold the position, Newsday reports.

Prendergast claims that there was not a scandal or bad motive behind letting Williams go, but he was simply assembling his team. Her position is to be replaced by Patrick A. Nowakowski, who is currently heading up a Metrorail Project in Washington D.C.
