Police were called yesterday after witnesses noticed a weapon hanging out of a man's a bag on a bus in Brooklyn.

By the time authorities were able to get to the bus, the man had already exited. Officers found the man at a Manhattan-bound subway stop, and a shotgun, machine gun ammo, and a machete were discovered in the bag he was carrying.

The man, who is a former Marine, was arrested on charges of criminal possession of a weapon, but claims he had no ill-intentions with the weapons. The man had no permit for the weapons and has a history of mental illness, but they do not believe he had a plan to use them.
