New York City's unemployment rate hit a four year low last month, according to labor statistics released on Thursday. AM New York reports that the unemployment rate dropped to 8.3% in May. Meanwhile, the unemployment rate dropped to 7.6% nationally.

According to the New York State Department of Labor, the city added more than 66,000 jobs over the past year. New York City's unemployment rate in May of 2012 was 9.5%.
