Following the announcement that Janet Napolitano will be leaving her position as Homeland Security Secretary, NYPD Police Commissioner Ray Kelly name has been mentioned often as a possible successor. If Kelly is serious about going for the position, he received a big sign of support from President Obama this week.

NBC New York and the Associated Press report that President Obama says Kelly would be "well qualified" for the position of Homeland Security Secretary. The president was speaking with the Univision affiliate in the New York/New Jersey area when he made the comment. President Obama didn't say whether he is considering nominating Kelly for the position.
