A pilot flying a small plane over Long Island took a page out of Captain Chelsey Sullenberger's book Thursday and safely landed their aircraft outside the runway. Unlike Sullenberger's dramatic landing on the Hudson River four years ago, the pilot on Thursday landed their much smaller plane on solid ground on the side of the road in West Islip, Long Island.

It's not clear yet what caused the pilot to land the plane on the side of the road when Republic Airport and MacArthur Airport are both within miles of the landing spot. According to My Fox New York, the small red, white and blue plane landed on the side of John Street.
