New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is taking his tough governor persona to a whole new level. At least, that is how at least one dead spider in Trenton, NJ must feel after Christie crushed the eight legged creature in front of a bunch of school children.
Christie proudly posted a video (below) on his YouTube page of him smacking a spider between his hand and a desk while his daughter Bridget's fourth grade class visited the State House on Friday.
Following the fourth grade classes visit to Gov. Christie's office the governor tweeted, "My daughter Bridget’s 4th grade class visited the State House today. Hope I didn't embarrass her too much." Christie also tweeted, "Earlier today I saved a few school children from a spider
#nobigdeal #toughdayattheoffice," which was accompanied by the YouTube video below.
Of course, the death of a spider didn't go unnoticed by PETA who responded to the video. PETA President Ingrid Newkirk issued a statement saying:
"He probably did it without thinking. Some people put the spider outside, but spiders are often scary to people, and that can prevent them from pondering their worth."
