A taxi overheated and burst into flames in the heart of Manhattan a couple hours ago as temps soared past 90 degrees for the second straight day.

No one was hurt when the cab combusted on Fifth Avenue near 39th Street around 1:30 p.m.

The blaze appeared contained within an hour, and witnesses praised the FDNY's quick response in a flurry of tweets. Police say the driver wasn't in the car at the time; it's not clear where the driver was, but traffic disruption was minimal.
