"SNL" Recap: Travis Kelce And Taylor Swift Cameo

Pete Davidson, who left the show but returned as host this episode, opened the season 49 premiere of "Saturday Night Live" addressing the Israel-Hamas conflict. "This week we saw the horrible images and stories from Israel and Gaza. And I know what you're thinking: 'Who better to comment on it than Pete Davidson,'" he said.

From there, he got the show started as he committed to try and make people laugh after the recent events. He said he would do that because comedy is what helped him deal with the death of his father on 9/11, when his mom accidentally showed him the Eddie Murphy stand-up special “Delirious.”

In the monologue, Pete performed about seven minutes of standup. He hit on watching “Game of Thrones” with his sister, and how uncomfortable that can be considering how many relationships on the show were between family members, as well as his early days dating and performing as a comic.

Some of the most talked about sketches were:

Fox NFL Sunday, where Kenan Thompson, Mikey Day, James Austin Johnson, Devon Walker and Molly Kearney teamed up as the hosts of “Fox NFL Sunday.” While trying to talk about the Philadelphia Eagles versus the New York Jets, they can’t help but talk about the relationship between Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. Travis actually shows up in a cameo at the end, as the only person who actually wants to talk about football instead of his relationship!

I’m Just Pete, where Pete Davidson sings his own version of “I’m Just Ken” from the “Barbie” movie. Memorable lines include “Anyone else I’d be a three, but I guess I’m hot for dudes in comedy” and “I’m just Pete, lookin like a meth head on the street.”

Please Don’t Destroy - The Original Princes of Comedy, where the Please Don’t Destroy trio showed Pete their old stand-up specials from when they were kids. The twist was that, as opposed to Pete’s old stand-up when he was in high school, they were middle-schoolers…and def jam comics.

Finally, Ice Spice performed “In Ha Mood” and her newest single “Pretty Girl” with the help of Rema. Taylor Swift made a cameo to introduce Ice Spice when it came time to perform "Pretty Girl," by the way. Up next time, Bad Bunny is hosting and will be the musical guest on October 21st.
