Hero Dog Saves Owner With Broken Neck

Over the New Year holiday, a man by the name of Bob had gone to retrieve firewood, wearing only nightclothes and slippers, when he fell and broke his neck.  Bob tried to scream for help, but no one could hear him considering that his closest neighbor was about a mile away — except for his dog Kelsey.

The dog kept Bob warm by laying on top of him and licking his hands and face to keep him awake and alert.   And she spent 19 hours barking her heart out for someone to come and help her.  By the time Bob lost consciousness, Kelsey was screeching a strange sound that ultimately alerted his neighbor, who found him on New Year’s Day.

Bob was taken to the hospital, and was shocked to discover he was free of frost bite, owing it all to Kelsey’s determination to keep him warm and safe.  Bob recovered quickly and considers Kelsey — and his attending physician — his hero.
