A Vaccine for Acne is Being Developed

A group of scientists from the University of California are working on a vaccine to treat acne. The project's lead researcher told Allure that "Acne is caused, in part, by P. acnes bacteria that are with you your whole life — and we couldn't create a vaccine for the bacteria because, in some ways, P. acnes are good for you. But we found an antibody to a toxic protein that P. acnes bacteria secrete on skin — the protein is associated with the inflammation that leads to acne." So that's why it's taken them so long! JK JK we know they've been working hard to bring us this acne cure!

The vaccine is already far enough long to begin testing on human patients in clinical trials. This could take up to two years, but then this cure might be available for everybody. We're so ready for this!
