Starley Was Going to Quit Music Before She Wrote 'Call on Me'

Starley was just days away from enrolling in a class to become a personal trainer before she wrote "Call on Me" and re-dedicated her life to music.

After years of writing songs for other artists, she tells 103.5 KTU's Lulu Y Lala backstage at #KTUphoria she became disenchanted with music and being away from home.

"As I was doing that I was kind of having a talk with myself, ‘I can’t believe I’m doing this…changing my career,'" she says.

After getting cold feet about heading into the fitness world, Starley sat down on the piano and began to play.

"I was writing on keys, that’s where I get out my emotion," she says. "And that’s when I wrote ‘Call on Me.’"

After that she knew music was what she was going to keep doing, but as an artist in her own right.

She still has trouble being away from home, but now she knows she's doing what she's meant to do.

"I haven’t seen my family in a long time, but I’ll go back and see them for Christmas," she says. "I’m out here living my purpose."
