Netflix has a new rival in Disney. The company plans to launch a streaming service for its major franchises. Disney will pull all its films from Netflix.
The subscription service will play Star Wars, Marvel movies, animated Pixar classics, Disney Channel TV and ESPN programming. Disney intends to launch in 18-months. They didn’t announce their monthly fee. Netflix charges about 10 dollars per month.
Disney CEO Bob Iger said yesterday, “We had a deal with Netflix that gave us the option to move our films. So we’re creating a Disney-branded service. If you look at the 2019 schedule, it includes Frozen 2, Toy Story 4, and a live-action remake of Lion King.”
