Kelly Clarkson Talks New Album, American Idol Reboot, Diss Tracks, & More

Kelly Clarkson stopped by the KTU studio's to hang with Cubby and Carolina in the Morning to talk upcoming album 'Meaning Of Life' hitting the stores October 27th and more! Check out an exclusive sneak peek of her interview before it airs tomorrow!

Your husband is Blake Shelton's manager! Are you two super close with Gwen and Blake?

Oh my god, Gwen is the nicest human ever. You can meet Gwen once and you're close to her! I'm always on text chains with Gwen and Blake and somehow it always comes down to Blake and I being competitive in some sense because we both have songs and albums coming out now. I was like oh how was #7 because I was #6! I'm always like get used to it, because The Voice is happening soon! Gwen always starts this sweet, and positive text and Blake and I always take it somewhere else. Him and my husband have that boy humor going on.

Are there any thoughts about growing the family?

Oh god, those tubes are gone! That's blasphemy. We don't even speak of it. We're both fixed in our own ways, yet still we'll probably get pregnant again somehow. I always feel bad because I have friends who have a hard time getting pregnant and I'm just like guys, I have the worst pregnancies ever, it can't happen again!

All you hear about now in pop music is women pitting against each other. How do you feel about diss tracks? It seems like you never got into any of that.

Girl, I don't even like someone that much to not like them. I don't know, I don't surround myself with celebrities, not that they're bad, but I live in Nashville and have normal friends. I'm not against having celebrity friends, but even the ones I have are like Blake, who doesn't care about stuff like that. I'm so going to start fake feuds on The Voice with Adam and Blake! This is how I'm going to have longevity with my career. I feel like I can have a good hang with Adele. Other than that, it's mostly country people. I don't get why these diss tracks happen! I have way too much on my plate to worry about a singer or dancer being salty towards me. I don't get it. No shade to them, whatever live your life, but I just don't have time for that! I just want time to have a glass of wine and read a book.

What are your thoughts on the new American Idol reboot?

Ok, well, here are my thoughts. I totally wish it success, but I was pregnant with my son when it ended and he's one! I heard backstage that they might bring it back and I thought oh maybe in like five years, but they didn't. People probably love it. I obviously love the show where I came from, so I'm excited for them. I was already talking to The Voice before they approached me and then put it out in the news to where it looked like I was mean! I was like that wasn't fair, I didn't even know you were coming back! I was already talking to The Voice about joining the team for like 3 years now. Somebody spread the rumor that I was going to be a part of Idol, and first of all at the time, I didn't even know that Idol was coming back! I've been pregnant so there's never been a good time. When it comes down to our family choice, it's awesome that my husband gets to work with both of his artists in one place, our kids are in one place, American Idol they travel around and go to all the cities. The Voice made sense because we're all in one place and I'm not gonna lie, I'm excited about the button! I think what I represent in music is the vocal part of this industry and I think it's awesome to have vocalists on the show where you can't see. It's not about aesthetics, it's about what you hear and I think I'm a good example of that. But, it did look bad that they thought they were pitting me against the show. Everyone tries to pit me against American Idol, but obviously I love the show, it's how I got in the industry. I gave them fifteen years of constantly coming back, good God!
