JAY-Z Did NOT Talk Meek Mill Out Of White House Visit With Trump

News surfaced on Friday (May 18) that Meek Mill pondered visiting the White House for Donald Trump's Prison Reform Summit. However, the rapper decided not to attend, after all.

Many reports claimed that friend and mentor JAY-Z, who was previously very vocal about Meek's own prison release, called the Philly rapper on Thursday (May 17) night to talk him out of the meeting. However, TMZ is clearing the air. It turns out that Hov had nothing to do with Meek's decision to cancel his White House visit. The news outlet confirmed: "A JAY-Z source says Jay did not force or even convince Meek to cancel the White House trip, adding Meek made the decision after talking to several people."

Meek also issued a personal statement to TMZ about his decision to not go to the White House. "I was originally scheduled to be part of a panel on Prison Reform at the White House to help shed light on the issues within the system. Unfortunately, the focus turned to the President and Myself which concerned me that it might take away from creating a positive result from today’s discussions," he said.

"As a result, I decided not to attend so that the focus would be solely on fixing our prison system. Most importantIy I remain fully committed to improving our criminal justice system."
