“We have become the official house band,” the guys of Backstreet Boys said as they joined Cubby and Carolina in the Found in Miami Interview Lounge at KTUphoria. It's their third year headlining at KTUphoria and it just wouldn't be the same without them.
Carolina kicked off the interview by telling Brian that the station was fined $55,000 by the FCC after he accidentally said "shit" live on air during a game of beat shazaam yesterday. Brian's face dropped in shock before Carolina revealed she was joking. While Brian did slip up and accidentally cursed on air, Cubby and Carolina weren't actually fined by the FCC.
After getting over Brian's shock, the guys spoke about what it's like to perform new songs live for the first time. They've been around for 20 years now and have one of the most recognizable repertoires in modern pop music, so, it can be scary adding a brand new song to their set lists. Nick said that "anytime we get an opportunity to perform a new song, we don’t know how they’re going to react. It’s kind of like a test for us and we enjoy that."
Even though it's scary to introduce fans to new music, it's not going to stop them from creating their art. They revealed they're going to be dropping an album in the fall, as well as heading out on a national tour after they wrap up their residency in Vegas.
Even though they've been in the music industry for decades, Backstreet Boys are known for still being incredibly humble and approachable. Part of that is, of course, their relationships with each other. They're able to keep each other grounded. When it comes to having disagreements among each other, they said that “just because we don’t show it on camera doesn’t mean that it hasn’t happened.” At the end of the day, though, they have each other's backs no matter what.
