With Her First Oscar Win, Lady Gaga Sets An Incredible Awards Record

Lady Gaga's first-ever Oscar win made history at the 91st Annual Academy Awards.

On Sunday night (February 24), the "Born This Way" singer took home her first Oscar for Best Original Song for her track "Shallow" from the Bradley Cooper-directed musical drama, A Star Is Born. It was an overwhelming moment of joy for the pop star, who celebrated her win with a sincere speech alongside fellow co-writers Mark Ronson, Anthony Rossomando, and Andrew Wyatt.

The 33-year-old's latest award win set an incredible milestone, as with her Oscar, Gaga became the first person in history to bring home a Golden Globe, BAFTA, Grammy, and Academy Award in a single year — all of which were in part for her turn in A Star Is Born.

"Thank you so much. To the Academy for this wonderful honor. Thank you to every single person in this room," Gaga said while accepting the Best Original Song award, before turning her gratitude to Cooper. "Bradley, there is not a single person on the planet that could’ve sung this song with me but you. Thank you for believing in us, thank you so much."

"If you are at home and sitting on your couch watching this right now, all I have to say is this is hard work," she continued. "I have worked hard for a long time, and it is not about winning, but it’s about not giving up. If you have a dream, fight for it. There’s a discipline for passion, and it’s not about how many times you get rejected or you fall down or beaten up, it’s about how many times you stand up and are brave. Thank you."
