NJ Home Destroyed, 1 Injured In Explosion

One person was injured in an explosion that completely destroyed a home in Ridgefield, NJ, late Monday morning.

The blast resulted in a large fire at the Abbott Avenue residence, reports NorthJersey.com.

Officials later attributed the explosion to a gas leak.

Neighbors reported their homes shaking, as if a bomb had exploded. All they could see out their windows was smoke.

The explosion sent plumes of smoke and flames into the air that could be seen from miles around.

Several media reports note that siding from the home was scattered about the area. The home was reduced to a pile of debris.

Pieces of the structure were found as far as three blocks away, officials said.
