Mother Charged With Murder Of Kids Found Hanging In Her Basement

A Pennsylvania mother was arrested and charged with murder after her two young children were found hanging in her basement on September 23. 36-year-old Lisa Snyder told police that her eight-year-old son Conner was bullied at school and had spoken about taking his own life. She said that the young boy hanged himself and his four-year-old sister, Brinley in the basement.

When the police arrived, Conner and Brinley were unresponsive but still alive. They were rushed to the hospital, where they died three days later.

Officials said that the autopsies were inconclusive and that they would need to conduct additional forensic tests to determine their exact cause of death. Investigators interviewed family and friends of the Snyders' who disputed Lisa's claims that Conner was suicidal, and there was no evidence that he was bullied at school. The criminal complaint stated that Lisa had searched the internet for "hanging yourself" and "carbon monoxide in a car how long to die" before her children were found hanging in her basement.

Snyder was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder, third-degree murder, endangering the welfare of children, tampering with evidence, and cruelty to animals.
