Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin revealed quarterback Ben Roethlisberger experienced a left pectoral injury during the team's 26-17 Week 2 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders last Sunday (September 19).

“Don’t have an idea of how much as I sit here right now, but we better be ready to be adjustable,” Tomlin said during his weekly press conference on Tuesday (September 21) via WPXI sports reporter Jenna Harner.

Tomlin didn't specify when the injury occurred during Sunday's game, but did say the 39-year-old quarterback "took too many hits."

Tomlin said the injury could affect the veteran quarterback from a preparation standpoint.

Roethlisberger was sacked twice -- both by defensive tackle Solomon Thomas, who also had three quarterback hits -- and pressured throughout the game.

Additionally, star outside linebackers T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith both experienced groin injuries during Sunday's loss.

Earlier this month, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Watt agreed to a four-year extension worth more than $112 million, which includes $80 million guaranteed, making the 26-year-old pass rusher the highest paid defensive player in the NFL.

Highsmith entered his second NFL season with high expectations after starting the final five games of the 2020 season in the absence of an injured Bud Dupree, who later signed with the Tennessee Titans as a free agent this offseason.
