All six actors from the Friends sitcom will return for a one-time special.
Ellen DeGeneres is negotiating with HBO to host the reunion special. The Friends actors requested Ellen, who best friends with the cast. Also, Ellen is the queen of softball celebrity interviews.
The unscripted show will help launch the HBO Max streaming service in the month of May. Friends reruns had a home at Netflix. That contract ended and now the old shows will be at HBO Max.
Ellen is looking at a huge payday. The actors refused an initial offer of $1 million and secured $4 million to appear in the special. Meaning Ellen could ask and probably get around $1 million to host.
