John Mayer seems to be on the verge of getting his own late night chat show, which would stream on Paramount-Plus, the CBS-affiliated streaming service.
Variety broke the story, reporting that the bandleader and Dead and Company member is in talks about a show that would be called Later and be based on the format of the long-running BBC series Later with Jools Holland. Citing "sources," they say the show would feature performances and interviews with "musicians, artists and other cultural figures in a setting designed to look like an after-hours club for musicians."
As for Mayer's experience, they cite his Instagram Live show Current Mood, guest hosting The Late Late Show on CBS, following the departure of Craig Ferguson and, most recently, his TikTok videos, which have gotten upwards of 140 million views.
