We always say it loud and proud at 103.5 KTU: Judy Torres is family — and not just because she blesses our airwaves every weekend with that unmistakable voice and love for Freestyle music. She’s also a trailblazer, an icon, and now, one of the creative forces behind a brand-new theatrical experience: “Freestyle: A Love Story.”
Coming to The Lovinger Theatre at Lehman College on April 12, 2025, this one-night-only event is more than just a show — it’s a powerful celebration of love, music, and the culture that raised us.
What’s it all about?
Freestyle: A Love Story follows Ana and Junior, two middle-aged Latinos reliving their youth at a Freestyle concert — only to unexpectedly reunite after decades apart. Their story takes us on an emotional rollercoaster through first love, heartbreak, and everything in between, all soundtracked by the music that defined a generation.
For those of us who grew up on Lisa Lisa, TKA, George Lamond, and of course, Judy Torres, this isn’t just nostalgia — it’s a tribute to our roots.
Did we mention Judy isn’t just starring in the show?
She’s also a producer, helping bring this vision to life alongside fellow legends like K7 and actors Liza Colón Zayas and David Zayas. That’s right — our KTU queen is doing it all, and we need to show up and show out!
The best part? All net proceeds from the show will support the Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena, specifically helping kids from Odyssey Charter School who were displaced by the recent Altadena wildfires. So when you buy a ticket, you're not only supporting Judy and the culture — you're giving back in a big way.
Let’s pack the theater and let Judy know NYC’s got her back! 🙌
