Dog lovers listen up!!! If you love your pooch and live in Northern NJ your dog is at risk. There is a new deadly bacteria spreading among dogs called "leptosoirosis." At least five dogs in Paramus have been diagnosed with this bacterial disease. Doctors say its due to the warm winter we've had and this decease can be TRANSMITTED to humans. If left untreated, it could lead to kidney damage, meningitis, liver failure and death. Symptoms include bleeding from the nose, vomiting and loss of appetite. If you live in areas with creeks, puddles, ponds and other places where there is a lot of standing water you might want to keep an eye out on your dog. Doctors also recommend you wash your hands after walking your dog.
