Southwest Airlines Will Stop Overbooking Flights

So much going on in airline news... where should I even start?  Well, for one United Airlines after a series of public relations disasters has quickly and quietly settled with Dr. Dao.  I say quietly, as in we have no idea how much money he's getting.

They also announced that they will now offer up to $10,000 compensation to those who voluntarily give up their seat on an overbooked flight.  But wait.

Southwest Airlines decided to one up them:  They will no longer overbook their flights.

The company's CEO, Gary Kelly said:

“The last thing that we want to do is deny a customer their flight. We’re going to work very hard to eliminate as many pain points for travel…as possible.”

Woo!  This is a win for frequent flyers in my book.
