Opening Night of Summer: The Donna Summer Musical

Last night, I had the pleasure of attending the official opening of Summer: The Donna Summer Musical at the Lunt-Fonntanne Theater in Times Square.

The red carpet had a star studded line up of celebrities making their way inside including Rosie O'Donnell, Tommy Hilfiger, Thalia, Naomi Campbell, Wayne Brady, Gayle King, and Jimmy Fallon (to name a few).

I felt like I really got a better understanding of Donna Summer's life story, from who she was, to who she became, as well as the hard work that she put in to become the Queen of Disco. There were even a few things about her story that I never knew, but was excited to learn about.

There were 3 different people who played 3 different versions of Donna throughout the years. Duckling Donna was the youngest, followed by Disco Donna and then Diva Donna. They were all extremely talented, however they also seemed to play duel roles as the mother, and daughter and at times I will say I felt a little confused.

The show brought on a range of emotions from laughter, to suspense, to even sadness - yes I saw a few people wiping their eyes at times, but then it was right back to that euphoric feeling of happiness. Talk about the magic of music!

If you're a true fan of Donna Summer and get tickets to the show, you'll be singing along to all of her amazing hits that were performed, including "I Feel Love", "Bad Girls", "On The Radio", "She Works Hard For The Money", and of course "Last Dance".
